Green with Envy

After massive condemnation of the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in Machynlleth when flies were found in the food, Edwin Phillips reads an email to staff telling them to ignore the criticism.

From:  Your Green Superiors (CAT).

To:  Co-workers (sub-division).

Take no notice of criticism from non-environmental so-called food inspectors and those who come to our wonderful site to experience the delights of Green living.

It may be a fly in the food but it is alternative

We have a special Green room with a lock on it reserved for former co-workers who told that awful website The Eye: “what has been happening at CAT is disgraceful.

“So many of my friends have left in disgust.”

Ignore the fact that we were fined £13,000 after admitting 10 food hygiene offences at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court.

Just because food was stored in open packets despite flies in the kitchen, and dead flies were found in a ready-to-eat salad dressing which had been left uncovered in the food handling area.

I’m sure it will be all right at CAT if you hold your nose

As we have been told to say, this happened ages ago (a whole nine months) and everything is all right now.

Our statement at the time of this non-Green court action was all-important: “We immediately set about making improvements, acting decisively to address each issue raised by environmental health”.

Also disregard those non-Green visitors we are forced to take in to make the place pay, who appear to be unhappy.

It has nothing to do with anything, that a post on Trip Advisor last month was headlined “Disappointing, Shabby and Overpriced”.

Those so-called visitors are clearly not the sort of people we want anyway when they stated:  “Paid over £25 for two adults and a concession (our toddler was free).

Don’t expect posh food presentation at CAT

“Far too expensive for what was in effect a very short ride on a funicular and a walk round an overgrown, run down area.

“Interactive stations were very poor.

“Dirty and rusty.

“Information boards had limited information and is now out of date.

“The map of the centre makes the place look far more exciting than it actually is!”

Young people should be grateful for what they get

They must be made to realise they are lucky to visit our Green centre and should not expect exciting maps or food without flies in it!

Another one apparently said that there was “little to inspire younger folk”.

Well, we don’t want younger folk if they aren’t alternative.

Like we are.

Just ask those magistrates at Llandrindod Wells.
